Show Low Days is just around the corner, which means a dog like me staying out from under foot as Jill and her staff rushes around getting ready for the big weekend. June 3rd, 4th, and 5th promise to be fun for the whole family including furry friends like myself!
On Friday, June 3rd, Jill, her staff and our local rodeo queens will be handing out tickets for free pony rides from 1 – 6 pm. If you miss them on Friday, you can catch them again on Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm.
On Saturday morning, Jill and our friends at Alta Sierra Veterinary Hospital will present the second annual Running of the Wieners at Show Low City Park Upper Field. Sign up starts at 10:30 and races begin at 11:30 am. Each dachshund, outfitted in their provided running bib and optional costume, will run approximately 20 yards in heats of three. The wiener… er, winner will take home a YETI cooler and all runners will receive swag bags. To enter your wiener, call (928) 537-2880.
Also on Saturday morning, bring your little Olympians out for the annual Itty Bitty Olympics presented by Jill and the city of Show Low. Activities will include a T-ball toss, soccer kick, javelin throw, races, and an obstacle course. The admission is $5 per Olympian and the first 100 kids registered will receive a free backpack from Jill. Sign-ups begin at 10:30 am and the event begins at 11 am sharp. This event will be held at the Show Low City Park Ponderosa Field. After chasing my share of tennis balls, I just love to see the little tykes go for the gold!
Until next time, may your water bowl always be full and your tail waggin’!
