Wounded Veterans San Juan River Fly Fishing Event in October
“Thank you, thank you, thank you. The Tug is the Drug…”
—Dominic Martinez (2014 Veteran Participant)
Since 2011, the White Mountain Fly Fishing Club has sponsored a four-day fly fishing trip to the San Juan river in New Mexico for wounded veterans. This event has been instrumental in helping these veterans in their healing process as well as allowing the club the honor and privilege to show their appreciation for their (and their families’) service and sacrifice.
As this program has evolved over the past four years, people outside the fishing club have asked how they might get involved. This year, the club is introducing a sponsor program that will allow you to also become invested in this event taking place Oct. 10 – 13th.
Sponsor levels are:
- $200 Soldier Level Contributor. Contribution goes towards Veteran’s expenses for trip (e.g., food, room).
- $500 Squad Leader Contributor. Sponsor Veteran and float boat only (one full day).
- $1,000 Warrior Level Contributor. Sponsor an entire two day float trip with the Veteran and designated donor fishing together. (Rooms and meals not included for donor).
Please note that 100% of your donation will go to supporting this veteran program. All the above levels will be given special recognition of their sponsorship on the WMFFC’s website for one year, a certificate of appreciation, and a thank you letter and/or picture from the supported veteran. The White Mountain Fly Fishing Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation so all donations are tax deductible.
If you would like to join in this mission of helping our veterans discover the drug of the tug, please consider one of the above sponsorship levels as an individual, business, or group. For more information, contact Barry Curseaden at (623) 398-5242. Donations can be made payable to: WMFFC, PO Box 2187, Pinetop, AZ 85935 (Please note “Veterans Fishing” with donation).
