Once a year, highly skilled craftsman and adventurers get together and race homemade derby cars down the Deuce of Clubs in Show Low (OK, highly skilled might be a bit of a stretch for some of the cars, but it is a fun time for all!). This year’s race is on Saturday, June 4th and starts at 8:00 am. The racing part of the Deuce will be closed at 7:20 am, so you’ll need to be there early. Set the alarm, brew the coffee, and be there!
We are expecting about 30 cars; each will run twice. Then, the cars in the speed category will participate in the semi-finals and finals to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. The final race will be the fastest car in the speed and design categories to determine who will claim the King of the Deuce trophy. For the last two years in a row, the King has gone to Desert Title & Tag. Are you good enough to push them out of the top position? All it takes is skill, determination, building skills, good wheels, fast design, some luck, and a little wishful thinking and the glory could be yours!
If you want to play but don’t want to go for the speed category, there will be seven Design Category trophies (and each comes with a $200 cash award) you could win. Be weird, be fun, be inventive, be anything you want—just have fun, get crazy. Go get your friends and build a car.
Even spectators will have a great time! This year, we will be broadcasting the race over a speaker system and a podcast. Bring friends. Bring family. Claim a spot along the race and cheer on your favorite racer!
