Friends of the Pinetop-Lakeside Library
With all these great offerings, it’s understandable the community would want to give back. To that end, the Friends of the Pinetop-Lakeside Library was established in 1999. With an eye to conducting fundraisers to finance library needs, the Friends raise money by operating a bookstore inside the library, selling commemorative plaques, and engaging in various other fundraising activities throughout the year.
Bookstore prices for used books, magazines, movies, music, puzzles and audio books range from 10 cents to $1.50. Buyers can also purchase a large plastic bag for $5 and fill it up with any item from the bookstore. The bookstore is open the same hours as the library.
As an example of a Friends fundraiser, a garage sale to benefit the library will be held, rain or shine, beginning at 8 AM, Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, at Friends’ member Carol Pennington’s house. Carol appreciates and accepts all types of donations except clothing. Her home is on West Woodland Lake Road, next to Pico’s, in Lakeside. Look for the yellow signs.
If you, too, would like to become a member of the Friends of the Pinetop-Lakeside Library, annual dues are $15. Other memberships, ranging from student to family lifetime, are also available. Meetings are held at 1 PM, the first Wednesday of every month in the library program room.
