SNOWFLAKE – Auditions for one of musical theatre’s greatest plays, My Fair Lady, will be Tuesday, August 14, and Thursday, August 16, from 6 until 10 p.m., at Northland Pioneer College’s Performing Arts Center, 1611 S. Main St. in Snowflake.
“My Fair Lady is the standard by which other musicals are measured,” notes the show’s director Dr. Michael Solomonson. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, this is the tale of a cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, transformed into an elegant lady by Professor Henry Higgins featuring an outstanding score, including Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?, With a Little Bit of Luck, The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, Get Me to the Church on Time, and I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.
Those auditioning are encouraged to prepare a 1-minute comic or dramatic monologue and 16 bars of a Broadway-style song. An accompanist will be available to play from sheet music provided by those auditioning. Cold readings from the script and a dance audition will be a part of the process. Community members are encouraged to audition.
Dinner theatre performances will be November 10 and 15, with show-only performances November 9 and 16 at 7 p.m. and November 17 at 2 and 7 p.m. Questions can be addressed to the show’s director, Dr. Mike Solomonson, at (928) 536-6217 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Those interested in helping with the technical aspects of the
production should come to the auditions, or contact Solomonson.
